Tea room launches ‘Shielded Wednesdays’ for vulnerable customers

A tea room’s new initiative will give vulnerable customers an opportunity to safely enjoy a cuppa with family and friends.

The Orangery Tearoom at Ketteringham Hall, near Wymondham, is launching ‘Shielded Wednesdays’ for those who have been forced to isolate during coronavirus lockdown.

The popular cafe’s co-owners, Laura Butler and Sarah Softley, have been taking steps to ensure safety measures are in place to put visitors’ minds at ease.

And from Wednesday, August 5, they will open the Orangery specifically for shielded citizens and their social bubble from 11am to 3pm, when afternoon tea will be served on the outside terrace.

Customers looking to attend Shielded Wednesdays will be asked to show their government-issued shielding letters and visits must be booked in advance by calling 01603 559224 or emailing info@orangerytearoom.co.uk

In April, the tea room asked the public to submit their favourite recipes for a cookery book entitled ‘Recipes in Mind: Baking through Lockdown’, whose foreword will be written by Great British Bake Off judge, Prue Leith.
