Norfolk Community Health and Care NHS Trust chosen as finalists in patient safety awards
A Norfolk health trust has been chosen as finalists in the HSJ Patient Safety Awards 2018.
Norfolk Community Health and Care NHS Trust (NCHC) was shortlisted in the ‘Patient Safety in the Community’ category for its reduction in pressure ulcers and increase in patient empowerment.
Anna Morgan, director of nursing and quality at NCHC, said: “The development of pressure ulcers in the community has been a significant challenge.
“In 2016 around 2,000 patients had pressure ulcers, 538 pressure ulcers affected patients aged 90-99 years and 43 in the 100 to 105 year age range.
“Our ambition was to reduce the number of patients living in the community from developing preventable pressure ulcers.
“In 2016 there were 346 incidents of preventable pressure ulcers within the community - this has now been reduced to 133 to date”.
The winners will be announced on July 9.
