A youth venue has received a boost after being awarded a £3,640 grant from the Healthy Norwich project.

Open Norwich was one of 21 organisations to be successful to receive a one off grant which will be used to provide boxing and Zumba dance sessions. The venue will also be linking up with the Joy of Food to provide food and cooking workshops designed to educate young people about how to cook low cost healthy food.

Ben Burt, activities and facilities manager for Open Youth said: 'We're really excited to receive this funding. We know from feedback that young people have expressed a wish to participate and have the opportunity to take part in weekly boxing sessions and the taster Zumba dance sessions we've hosted have given young people unique opportunities to participate in physical activity without feeling under pressure giving them a feeling of joy, achievement as well as giving them time to take part in physical exercise.'

The Healthy Norwich funding comes from NHS Norwich Clinical Commissioning Group and the projects were chosen by a panel including Norwich City Council. For more information, call 01603 763111.
