Norfolk beauty blogger Samantha Last who revealed she had weeks to live in an emotional final video has undergone a six hour operation to remove most of her brain tumour.

The 49-year-old mum of four is now recuperating at home in Diss following the brain surgery carried out at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge.

Mrs Last, who has seven grandchildren, was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour after going to A&E in Norwich with a "splitting" headache.

She received the devastating news that her condition was terminal with doctors advising her to go home to spend her final weeks with her family.

Further talks with doctors subsequently saw her offered the option of surgery that whilst not offering a cure could help prolong her life.

She underwent the surgery at Addenbrooke's on September 25 to partially remove the tumour, which is the size of a large chicken egg.

Her husband David Last, 51, said she was now recovering at home with family after being discharged from hospital on Saturday.

He said: "Samantha had a successful six hour brain surgery operation carried out by surgeon Matthew Guilfoyle

The operation was a success with 90pc removal of the tumour, better than expected.

"The tumour is now being analysed and the results will be available this week, for Addenbrooke's to plan the next phase of the treatment."

Since her diagnosis three weeks ago, Mrs Last had lost sight in one eye and seen her short term memory and speech deteriorating, but she remains positive ahead of the surgery which carried risks.

"Sadly the eye sight cannot be restored, but Samantha was not paralysed on her right side, which was the highest risk," said Mr Last.

"Samantha's senses are still adjusting, her sense of smell has gone haywire, nothing smells as she remembers. Her right eye sight looks like she is looking through a prism. Her memory has changed, she has no short term memory. She cannot walk unaided. But she is alive and we can work on these areas."
