A mental health pharmacist is the first in the country to get a funding award to help people with bipolar disorder take their medication.
Asta Ratna Prajapati, from Cringleford, was awarded £350,000 to work on a research project to help people with bipolar disorder.
Mr Prajapati, 42, also a PhD student at the University of East Anglia (UEA), is the first mental health pharmacist to receive a Health Education England and National Institute of Health Research clinical doctoral research fellowship funding award.
The award will support Mr Prajapati over four years to complete the NSFT/UEA-led research programme, which aims to create a tool to help identify patients with bipolar disorder who are struggling to take their medication and will also identify their reasons.
Mr Prajapati said: 'The project has the potential to make a real difference in our patients.'
