Heads of schools across mid and north Norfolk have been reacting to their students' GCSE results.
The percentage of students who achieved a grade four or above in English and maths was 77pc at Sacred Heart School, Swaffham, 71pc at Litcham School, 67pc at Reepham High School, 64pc at Fakenham Academy and Alderman Peel High School, Wells, 62pc at Dereham Neatherd High School and 55pc at Northgate High School, Dereham.
Sister Francis Ridler at Sacred Heart, said: 'The overall results are excellent and the teachers have worked very hard through a difficult year.
'Benita Busbacher deserves special recognition for getting the only 8 in maths, and of her 11 subjects she had the equivalent of three A*s, seven As and one B. There was also Aeyesha Cundy who fought dyslexia to achieve six As and five Bs.
'Finally I would highlight Imogen Leader who achieved the equivalent of two A*s, three As and six Bs.
Litcham head Robert Martlew said: 'I would like to pass on my personal congratulations to all of our students. Everyone has worked so hard and they have been rewarded with excellent results.'
He added: 'We are incredibly proud of every one of our students. I would like to thank them, their parents and staff for all that they have done to achieve these outcomes. I wish them the very best for the future as they go on to new and exciting challenges.'
Reepham High School and College principal Mark Farrar said: These are very good results for this particular cohort. We are especially pleased with the fact that over 22pc of all grades were at A*/A/9/8/7.
'The hard work of our pupils on the new tougher GCSEs is to be commended and we wish all of our young people the very best for their futures. Of course, these results would not have been achieved without the support of the wonderfully dedicated and talented members of staff we have in Reepham.'
Alderman Peel High School head Alastair Ogle said: 'This year group has made superb progress since joining APHS and have been a pleasure to teach.
'Well done to them all and congratulations to everyone involved in their success.'
Fakenham Academy principal Matthew Parr-Burman said: 'I'm cautious about how our figures stack up until I see the national picture.
'But it's not all about that - it's about individual children getting what they need to progress to the next stage of their lives.
'Many of these students will be going on to study at our new sixth form college, which we're all very excited about.'
Neatherd High School head teacher Peter Devonish said: We've had a good amount of the new nines, at least eight in maths and seven in English.
'There is a lovely atmosphere here and the students have done really well.'
Andy Mason, head of school at Northgate High School said: 'We are proud of the progress and achievement of all of our students across subject areas which reflect the wonderful partnerships in learning between students and staff. Students have worked incredibly hard, supported by our team of committed, dedicated and hardworking staff. A number of students achieved the top Grade 9 in English Language, English Literature and Maths. The English Baccalaureate subjects of Geography and History performed strongly with a large increase in the number of top grades, and results in the Arts were once again outstanding. Our headline figure for the new grade 4+ in both English and Maths is 55pc broadly in line with teachers' forecasts and recognises our pride in our students progress from a wide range of individual starting points, which enables individuals to progress to the next stage of their education and training. We wish all of our students every success for the future.'
