A homeowner fought back against a burglar and caused him to fall into a bush.

The man awoke to noise at the back of his house in Beccles Road, Gorleston, at about 1am on Tuesday, August 28 and found a man in the garden, who was leaving his shed on his bicycle via the front of the house, carrying a rucksack filled with his food.

He pursued the burglar and grabbed him just as he was in the process of pedalling.

The have-a-go homeowner pulled the rucksack throwing the burglar into bushes, who then fled.

All of the man's property was recovered with help from two people the police would like to trace.

A young man and young woman are thought to have witnessed the drama and then helped the man carry his property inside the house.

Police are asking them - or anyone who knows who they are - to come forward, and officers are also keen to hear from anyone with information about the burglar.
