Now, a new chapter in the saga of Black Shuck is being brought to life once again.

The much-storied hound features in a new anthology made up of writers from around the globe.

The tale, by Kris Holt, 37, of Catton Grove, Norwich, is a murder story set in Cromer in the early 1900s.

The work is part of a collection of tales focused on local myths and legends from around the world, co-ordinated by a website Shadows at the Door, for fans of psychological horror.

As well as writing one of the stories, Mr Holt is editing the anthology, with the website's founder, County Durham based writer, Mark Nixon, and Canadian author and Horror Writers Association member Caitlin Marceau.

Mr Holt said: 'We wanted to create something with a very distinctive graphological feel,' he said.

'While at the same time we are trying to create something and make a particular type of story popular.

'My contribution is something I have written specially for the anthology. It was an idea I had been sitting on for a while but I felt as if it needed something special to bring it out.'

The website has launched a fundraising campaign via Kickstarter to see the book brought to life. The campaign has another twenty-one days to reach the target goal of £11,500.

The stories in the anthology will be exclusive to the book, which has been illustrated by artist Barney Bodoano.
