Crazy headwear took centre stage in Blundeston as coffee morning visitors and a school backed the campaign to raise awareness about brain tumours.

Pupils and staff at Blundeston Primary wore an assortment of decorated hats to school last Friday, March 31 - as 'Wear A Hat Day' was held across the country to raise funds and awareness of the Brain Tumour Research (BTR) charity.

Barbara Shaw, whose husband Colin died from a brain tumour in 2010, and Jean Youngs, who has received treatment for brain cancer, also held a coffee morning in Blundeston Village Hall last Saturday assisted by Blundeston and Flixton WI members.

Mrs Shaw said: 'The coffee morning was a great success with £800 raised so far and we are so grateful to the school for its support and to Waveney MP Peter Aldous for attending and for backing BTR's campaign.'
