Pupils and staff at a Waveney primary school fundraised and raised awareness for a brain tumour charity with a special wear a hat day.

Blundeston Church of England Primary School have supported the charity, Brain Tumour Research, for six years, with this year another successful day with a wide array of strange and impressive headgear.

Wear A Hat Day was launched by the charity with the big day seeing people across the UK taking part in events to raise awareness of brain tumours and help fund life-saving research.

Barbara Shaw, whose husband Colin suffered from the condition, fronts the campaign. She said: “The school has supported me with fundraising for a number of years. I began in 2011, the year after Colin died, and thanks to the generosity of the everyone we have raised nearly £9000 since then.”

Waveney MP Peter Aldous also attended, and said: “The feeling is Brain Tumour as a condition is something that could be on the edge of a breakthrough and if extra funding is forthcoming then we can make it happen.”
