The Happisburgh RNLI shop closed at the end of 2011 when the former lifeboat station in the main village was put out of action by coastal erosion.

The station moved to Cart Gap a mile to the east, and now runs two lifeboats.

The shop had been the highest earning small shop in the RNLI for many years bringing in £12,000 a year, thanks to the hard work of volunteers.

In December last year a new shop was erected next to the Cart Gap station - and has now been fitted out and stocked.

Shop manager Jacqui Robertson has got the volunteers trained and ready for the opening on Saturday March 21 at 10am.

The shop will be open daily from 10am to 4pm, with the usual wide range of RNLI souvenirs, cards and calendars.

She is still looking to recruit more volunteers to man the shop. Anyone interested is asked to visit the shop to find out more.

Shop funds go towards the RNLI's operating of more than 230 lifeboat stations in the UK and Ireland, along with 140 lifeguard units on beaches around the UK.

The RNLI is independent of Coastguard and government and depends on voluntary donations, legacies and fundraising to maintain its rescue service.
