A local authority behind two north Norfolk toilet blocks is flushed with success after the loos scooped top awards for the second year in a row.

North Norfolk District Council's (NNDC) blocks in Happisburgh, now managed by the parish council, and Sheringham East Promenade have achieved gold accolades in the 2013 Loo of the Year Awards.

Inspectors judged over 5,000 individual toilets across Britain over the summer.

NNDC deputy leader Rhodri Oliver, said: 'We're delighted that these two excellent and relatively new toilet blocks haven't gone down the pan. I am particularly pleased that both survived last week's tidal surge that caused so much damage down the north Norfolk coast. They are very important not just for people who live nearby but also in supporting the local tourism.'
