A gun is believed to have been used in an attempted robbery at a home in Kirkley Gardens at about 7.20pm on Friday evening.

A couple – both aged 50 – were at home when the woman answered a knock at the door.

Two males wearing Balaclavas then pushed their way into the hallway and demanded drugs. One of the males had what appeared to be a handgun.

The male occupant came to the hallway to see what was going on.

The intruders again demanded drugs but were told they had the wrong house. The two offenders then ran from the property.

No one was hurt and it is thought the incident is a case of mistaken identity.

The first intruder was white, between 5ft 6in to 5ft 8in, of thin and skinny build, and is believed to be in his late teens to 20s.

He was wearing dark coloured clothing including a Balaclava over his head.

The second intruder said to have a relatively slim build, and be slightly shorter than the other man.

He also wore a black Balaclava.
