Children, parents and staff members pulled together this weekend to build a new learning facility at their school that will house guinea pigs and rabbits.

The extended learning facility at Dereham Church of England Junior Academy has been supported by Tesco with a donation of £1,000 and it has been designed by the pupils.

Everyone pitched in to build the enclosure that will soon be home to guinea pigs, rabbits and possibly some other animals.

Teachers hope it will help the children to understand responsibility and caring.

The school's business support manager, Sonia May, said: 'The children have worked hard, they've designed the enclosure with help of assistants and all the staff are on board with helping out on holidays. It will be a community effort and something that belongs to us all. It is also a good opportunity for the children and they've been in on it from the word go.'
