Great Yarmouth will remember D-Day landings and troops that lost their lives

The deaths of thousands of troops who helped to liberate Europe in the Second World War are to be remembered in Great Yarmouth.

The town is holding its annual service of thanksgiving and commemoration to mark the anniversary of D-Day on Tuesday, June 6.
The ceremony, marking the 73nd anniversary of the landings, will start at 6.30pm in St George's Park.
There will be a service of readings, prayers and hymns led by the Rev Grant Bolton-Debbage, of Great Yarmouth Minster and accompanied by the Minster Choir.
Winterton Marine Cadets will provide a drum head to act as an altar in the park.

The service will end with an act of remembrance for those who died in the war and the singing of the National Anthem. Kerry Robinson-Payne, the mayor of the Great Yarmouth borough, will lay a wreath on behalf of the borough at the Second World War Memorial.
