A popular pub is due to re-open its doors to the public next week.

The Troll Cart, in Great Yarmouth, reopens its doors as a pub and hotel on Tuesday, December 12, following a development project costing £3.55 million.

Work on the project started at the beginning of July and the pub remained open until mid-August, before closing for the project to be completed.

A total of 55 new jobs have been created at the new-look larger pub, as well as hotel.

The Wetherspoon pub, in Regent Road, now offers a 23-bedroom hotel on the site, on the second and third floors of the building.

The existing pub, which first opened in April 1996, has also been extended into an adjacent former shop unit, as well as being completely refurbished and fully redecorated.

The new hotel rooms can accommodate a mixture of double, twin and family occupancy, there are also two accessible rooms suitable for people with disabilities.

Each of the rooms features an en suite bathroom, tea- and coffee-making facilities, hair dryer, flat-screen television with Freeview TV and unlimited free Wi-Fi, as well as digital air-conditioning and temperature control.

The rooms and hallways are decorated with artwork produced by pupils from a local school, Stradbroke Primary Academy, in Lowestoft Road, Great Yarmouth.

Pub manager Todd Inns said: “The new 23-bedroom hotel is a wonderful addition to the outlet and we are confident that it will also be a great addition to the Great Yarmouth community.

“We look forward to welcoming hotel guests to The Troll Cart, as well as customers back into the new-look pub.”
