A celebration of the Commonwealth will take place outside Great Yarmouth Town Hall on Monday as part of a national initiative to show commitment to the global family of nations.
Great Yarmouth Borough Council is taking part in Fly a Flag for the Commonwealth, which will see local authorities, community groups, charities and others hold flag-raising events and ceremonies on Commonwealth Day 2018.
In Great Yarmouth, the ceremony will start at 9.45am and will be led by the Rev Canon Simon Ward, of Great Yarmouth Minster.
The flag will be raised at 10am by Kerry Robinson-Payne, the mayor of the Great Yarmouth borough – the same time as Commonwealth Flags are raised at hundreds of other locations across the world.
The initiative allows for the public expression of commitment to the Commonwealth, appreciation of its values, and the opportunities offered for friendship and co-operation with Commonwealth citizens around the world.
