Judging has taken place for the Great Yarmouth Sports Awards, which recognise those who have contributed the most towards sport in the borough.

About 50 nominations were sent into the awards, which will see the winners of ten categories announced next month.

The categories are Sporting Primary School of the Year, Sporting Secondary School of the Year, Sportsperson of the Year, Young Sportsperson of the Year, Sports Team of the Year, Community Club of the Year, Coach of the Year,

Services to Sport - Unsung Hero, Services to Disability Sport and Community Activity of the Year.

The judging was on Monday and involved Matt Stebbings, Claire Henwood and Alex Bond from Sentinel Leisure Trust, former Olympic runner Paul Evans, John White, chairman of the Great Yarmouth Sports Partnership and Anthony Carroll, chief reporter on this paper. The winners will be announced at a ceremony on October 4.
