International Port Holdings (IPC) has today sold its interests in Great Yarmouth port.

The buyer is Peel Ports Group, who are one of the UK's largest port groups, owning and operating ports and terminals in Liverpool, Manchester, Medway, Glasgow, Belfast.

Ms Eliza O'Toole, deputy chair of (IPC): 'We are delighted to have sold our interests to Peel Ports and are confident that Great Yarmouth port will continue to flourish as part of the Peel Ports Group. We wish both Peel Ports and the port every ongoing success in the future and we thank the port team and all its customers and stakeholders for their support during our tenure.'

IPC acquired Great Yarmouth Port in May 2007.

In a statement, Ms O'Toole said during their eight years of ownership the port had been greatly expanded with the construction of the outer harbour and acquisition of the strategic land areas between the river and harbour.

She added the development of the port had enabled its expansion as the premier port servicing the Southern North Sea oil and gas sector whilst expanding and diversifying into grain exports, aggregate imports and off shore wind construction and servicing. In addition the port is well positioned for the growing gas decommissioning activity with a specialised facility being developed in the harbour.
