Organisers behind Great Yarmouth's annual dog show have announced they are postponing the event due to tomorrow's forecast heavy rain.

The It's a Dog's Life event was due to take over the Market Place from noon until 4pm, featuring stalls, stands and several classes including best puppy and best fancy dress.

Great Yarmouth Borough Council, which organises the show, announced this afternoon that the event would not be going ahead tomorrow.

Laura Goodman, events manager, said: 'It is with regret that we are going to postpone the show tomorrow due to the forecast of torrential rain and wind. 'We appreciate all the time and effort that has gone into putting the show together, but hope to be able to carry out the show in a few weeks time so long as everyone is in agreement.'

The event was held for the first time and hailed a huge success after it was attended by dozens of animal lovers and their prized pets.
