The meeting was held at Gorleston Library and attended by staff, trustees, volunteers, and funders, as well as representatives from the county and borough councils, health visiting teams and early help hub.

Patron of the scheme, The Lady Dannatt, said it had been an extraordinarily successful year for Home-Start Great Yarmouth and District, culminating in a 20th birthday party held at the Priory Centre in July. She also said that whether those present were sponsors, regular financial supporters, trained volunteers, trustees, coordinators, family support workers, administrators, helpers, encouragers or friends, all were responsible for supporting and changing the lives of some of the most vulnerable young families in the Yarmouth area.

Chairman of trustees Ann Keable also reflected on what had been a very successful year and congratulated everyone who had contributed to the success of the last 20 years. She said this had been due to the hard work and dedication of those who had been part of the team during that time, all of whom had contributed to supporting vulnerable families in the area.

She went on to thank volunteers, staff, trustees, funders and referrers who have enabled this to happen over the years so successfully, and said it would not function without its 'wonderful volunteers'.

Mrs Keable welcomed new recruits to the volunteering team during the last year and also thanked all volunteers for the support and dedication they provide to the scheme and to families.

Mayor of Great Yarmouth, Cllr Shirley Weymouth, also attended and thanked everyone for their contribution. She presented certificates to long serving volunteers: Jackie Howland and Sharron Hodgson (six years); Sharon Burrell (five years); Sheila Ashman, Diane Whitelaw, Ellie Richards and Cheryl Dixon (four years).
