Gressenhall Parish Council has been able to replace the fencing around the village's popular play area, thanks to a grant from Breckland Council.

The £3,177 grant has allowed the previous wooden fencing, which had sections missing, to be completely removed and replaced with bow-top fencing, named after its distinctive rounded safety top.

This has made the play area more secure and includes a wider self-closing double gate to make it more accessible for wheelchair users.

Gressenhall Parish Council's Chairman, Councillor John Reader, said: 'We had already raised £6,618 towards the £9,795 cost of the work, and the £3,177 grant from Breckland Council enabled us to go ahead and get it completed so that local children could have fun using the play area safely.'
