A teacher who set up her own music lessons business for young children in the Great Yarmouth area is looking to franchise out her company model.

Grace Moore runs Dots & Squiggles and offers children fun, practical and structured learning from basic music theory and simple songs on the piano, to more detailed learning as they progress through the course.

As part of the course she turns dots and squiggles on a page into meaningful music symbols.

When Mrs Moore decided to move forward with her music tuition business, she turned to enterpriseGY for advice and business workshops.

And now Mrs Moore is turning to enterpriseGY again as the next step with her business is to explore developing it in a franchise model to allow children across the country to learn music through what is called a proven programme.

The mother of two young children, who moved to Gorleston in 2008, plans to seek advice once again with enterpiseGY's franchise expert to take the next steps in growing her business.

Mrs Moore said: 'I would recommend anyone interested in starting a business to speak with enterpriseGY first for some initial guidance.

'I attended a free course on start-ups called the ABCs of business which not only increased my knowledge base but perhaps more importantly, gave me the confidence to make the leap. I already have my next list of questions for the helpful experts at enterpriseGY.'

Mrs Moore, who is from Canada and started playing the piano as a young child, is a qualified primary teacher, working part time at teaching to fit in with her young family.

After studying music and knowing the difficulties of teaching very young children she went in search of proven methods to formulate her programme of piano lessons.

Her research drew on expertise from around the world, allowing Mrs Moore to develop the Dots & Squiggles programme for children from as young as four years old.
