MANY holidaymakers have been inspired to help poor communities they have visited during their travels.

But globetrotting Georgia Hamilton has been motivated by the humanitarian actions of a Hollywood movie mogul.

Scott Neeson, who tugged at the heart-strings of millions with the blockbuster Titanic, turned his back on a life of lavish luxury to help critically poor children in Cambodia.

Miss Hamilton, of Colomb Road, Gorleston, was supposed to be putting her feet up in Malaysia when she caught a news documentary, chronicling his work.

Within weeks of returning home she has produced a range of personalised 'make a wish' bears she hopes will boost the Cambodian Children's Fund, creating homes and hope.

She already runs a successful business selling comedy baby grows emblazoned with off-beat slogans.

The whacky onesies have proved a huge success with shoppers in Regent Road in Yarmouth and will shortly be available online.

However the 46-year-old has been pouring all her energy into the charity project and hopes to visit later in the year with her teenage sons Hayden and Jared, opening their eyes to the plight of children who sift rubbish for scraps.

She said: 'I was supposed to be on holiday relaxing but I just had to get in touch with the charity and find out what I could do straight away.

'I asked them what they wanted and they said pens and papers. I sent off a box but the postage was £46 and I thought I couldn't keep that up, it was just too expensive.

'The idea of the bears came about because I wanted to cheer up my sister - the bears are all about friendship and making people feel good, and you might change a life too.'

The 'make a wish' cuddly bears, designed as friendship gifts, come wearing a personalised T-shirt with a card tucked in their hoods, blank for a special message.

She came to Yarmouth from Southport after searching under 'the 10 best beaches in England' which took her to Lowestoft.

However, after scanning the area and discovering busy Regent Road the entrepreneur settled on Yarmouth four years ago.

At 18 she went round the world for 10 years, picking up business ideas and experiencing life in poverty-stricken countries.

Hollywood executive Neeson was head of 20th Century Fox International when he sold his mansion and launched the fund which now provides homes for 500 children and supports many hundreds more in education.

The bears priced £12.99 can be bought direct from Miss Hamilton who will deliver locally via hgeorgia32@yahoo.com or by phoning 07834 453464.

A donation of £3 per bear will be made to the charity.
