Yarmouth borough Mayor Paul Garrod opens Gorleston's new Travelodge with staff

A Gorleston hotel is set for a major overhaul as part of a national £100m investment drive.

Travelodge is spending the nine-figure sum on its branches throughout the UK, including its site in Beacon Park, which opened in 2007.

As part of the work, the Sidegate Lane hotel will undergo an extensive refurbishment and be fitted out in a new, modern Travelodge design, created by customers.

In the rooms this will include a king size bed, larger desk and new carpet.

Alongside the refurbishment work the national chain is also opening 15 new hotels across the UK, which will create 1,000 new jobs.
