A father and his two sons will be carrying out a screwball challenge to raise money for East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH) nook appeal.

Terry Brooks, 53 and sons, Ryan, 23, and Jack, 22 will be driving across Europe in a £300 Fiat Multipla, covering 1,800 miles in less than five days to raise money for the charity.

In September they will be taking part in the Screwball Rally, which involves France, Italy, Lichtenstein, Luxembourg and Switzerland in their vehicle they have christened Little Mites (Little Tikes).

When they return, the car will be auctioned on eBay and the proceeds will be added to the total amount of money raised from sponsorship.

Mr Brooks said: 'Last year, my uncle and aunt took part in a banger rally to Barcelona and this intrigued my youngest son, Jack.

'He suggested that we do one together and raise money for a charity supported by my late father, Robin, who passed away last April.

'As well as EACH being one of my dad's preferred charities, my wife's great-nephew received wonderful care at Quidenham after being diagnosed with late-infantile Batten disease a few years ago and we agreed that our support should go to this great charity to help them deliver care in the most difficult situations imaginable.

'We bought a Fiat Multipla with a full MOT for £300 and decided upon our theme before setting about the transformation.

'A bit of paint, vinyl and some stickers later and we have our Little Mites (Little Tikes) themed car ready for the trip.

EACH launched the nook appeal in November 2014.

The appeal aims to raise £10m to transform children's palliative care across Norfolk, which includes a purpose-built hospice called the nook on a five-acre woodland site in Framingham Earl, just south of Norwich.

Each says the nook is needed as the charity has outgrown its current hospice at Quidenham.
