A concert in Gorleston will raise money for a charity set up by a Great Yarmouth woman after her daughter died in Namibia.

Linda and her husband Roger founded The Catherine Bullen Foundation in her name with the aim of improving health and education standards in the country.

Catherine was in her final year of medical studies in 2002 when she elected to travel to Zambia and Tanzania for hospital placements.

However, while on holiday in Namibia prior to her placement she fell ill with gastroentiritis and died at Oshivelo Clinic, aged just 22.

Since the charity's inception in 2005, £400,000 has been raised for its projects, which include refurbishing a bore-hole to provide water for a school in the village of Otjimanangombe.

The concert by Gorleston Community Choir will take place at 7pm on Saturday, June 9 at the St Mary Magdalene Church in Gorleston.
