A new hotel, golf course and leisure complex are set to be built between Heacham and Hunstanton.

West Norfolk council has agreed a planning application from holiday firm Searles to turn Manor Farm, off Hunstanton Road, into a 12-bedroom hotel, with holiday cottages, leisure club and spa, and clubhouse.

The Council for the Protection of Rural England (CPRE) and West Norfolk council's landscape officer also said the proposal would have an adverse impact on the landscape.

But a report to councillors says Searles believe the scheme would increase the attractiveness of the area to tourists. It would also create 50 jobs.

The report argues that the course would also ensure Heacham and Hunstanton remain separated by countryside.

West Norfolk's development control board approved the scheme on condition improvements are carried out to the cycle path between Heacham and Hunstanton.
