A Brandon primary school was awash with red, white and blue as children and staff celebrated the diamond jubilee.

Pupils at Glade Primary School, on Knappers Way, also learnt about the Queen's coronation and changes during the last 60 years and held a picnic on the school field yesterday (Friday).

This was followed by a slice of cake, baked by school cook Julia Page, and a conga around the field.

Head Andy Smith said: 'The children thoroughly enjoyed the day and were so excited to learn more about the Queen. It was a great day for the whole school.'

The children also received specially produced diamond jubilee coins, which were donated by the Friends of Glade.
