Villagers are hoping to scoop a windfall of up to £25,000 to help create a new play area at a children's centre.

Gissing, near Diss, hopes to create a clam and green outdoor space which can be used by parent and toddler groups, for daily pre-school activities, holiday play schemes and outdoor adventure evenings.

It is also hoped the new area at Gissing Children's Centre will have areas for relaxation amongst wooden planters and seating, a covered sand play area, a 'Hobbit' house, a mud kitchen, a digging area and extensive water play features.

As a result it is encouraging people to cast votes for the project as part of the 2017 Aviva Community Fund, with up to £25,000 up for grabs.

'For many children, playing outdoors at their pre-school or nursery may be the only chance they have to play safely and freely while they learn to assess risk and develop the skills to manage new situations,' said Linda Nash, manager of Gissing Children's Centre.

'It is essential that they get frequent and regular opportunities to explore and learn in the outdoor environment and redesigning our existing area will enable them to do this on a daily basis.'

Housed in the village's old Victorian School, Gissing's Children's Centre adjoins the village's new Community Building - which was built following a successful bid to Big Lottery by The Heart of Gissing , the village's community charity.

Together, villagers believe they provide Gissing with a unique combination of educational, social and cultural facilities.

Votes for the project must be cast by November 21 by visiting
