A warning was issued today after two teenage girls were sexually assaulted while trying to help a man in Norwich.

A man of Indian/Asian appearance approached the 16-year-olds in the Castle Gardens, near the Castle Mall, claiming to be a tourist and asked for directions to the Norwich Cathedral at 5.30pm last Tuesday, June 13.

The teenagers agreed to show him the way and accompanied him through Tombland and The Close.

Before arriving, the man grabbed one of the girls and tried to kiss her, but she managed to fight him off and immediately left the scene.

The second girl, unaware of the previous incident, was forcefully kissed and indecently assaulted a short time later.

PC Julie Dale said: “This assault serves as a timely reminder to young people that they should be aware that strangers may not have innocent motives when approaching them.”

The offender is described as in his late 20s to early 30s. He was approximately 5ft 10ins to 6ft tall and of slim/skinny build. He had a small, strait black moustache and was wearing a blue and white polo shirt, blue jeans and black trainers.

Anyone with information should contact PC Dale on 0845 456 4567.
