A young girl who suffered serious injuries in a road accident in Lowestoft is in a 'critical but stable' condition in hospital.

The girl, believed to be about 11 years old, suffered extensive injuries after she was involved in a collision with a car in Tom Crisp Way, Lowestoft on Monday afternoon.

Police officers, an ambulance crew, rapid response vehicle, ambulance officer and East Anglian Air Ambulance were called to the scene about 3.35pm yesterday, with the pedestrian airlifted to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge.

She suffered serious head, leg and pelvic injuries. A police spokesman said: 'The young girl is still critical, but stable.'

The driver of the Audi car was unhurt.
