A new music festival may be coming to a town in Norfolk.

Plans are to be discussed to create the music event in Diss, as organisers and the council look to bring more visitors to the town and serve a 'community need'.

Gig in the Park would be a three-day event from July 27 to 29, held in The Park in Diss. Organisers hope to make the festival an annual event as The Park already hosts a number of events including the Diss Cyclathon and Diss Carnival.

It would feature two stages of local acts, a Diss Has Got Talent competition, children's area and various stalls and bars. Organisers have estimated that 2,000 people would attend.

To avoid confusion with the town's current arts festival, DissFest, organisers are hoping to include aspects of it into Gig in the Park.

Plans will be discussed at Diss Town Council meeting on Wednesdays, January 17.
