Georgia Twiddy, 20, from Cromer, trained at the gym for seven days a week, doing 80 minutes of cardio every day, to prepare for the UKUP (United Kingdom Ultimate Physiques) federation's British championships – in which she placed first in the bikini competition.

She also completed up to 80 minutes of weight training five times a week in the run up to the contest.

Miss Twiddy, who is studying midwifery at the University of East Anglia, said it was extremely challenging to balance competition preparation with her full time university course.

'It meant so much to me to win because it was so tough training now that I've started uni and have 12 hour shifts. I was crying everyday thinking I just can't do all the preparation on top of my studies.

'It was really draining but the work really paid off to be able to compete at the British finals and to take home the title of British champion. I was incredibly honoured and shocked to win.'

Miss Twiddy competed at BodyPower, the biggest UK indoor fitness exhibition, back in May where she placed second and got invited to the UKUP British finals in York- where she went on to become bikini champion this month.

'I'd like to thank my boyfriend,' she said, 'As on days when I was like that's it I can't do it, he'd be the one to pick me back up and tell me I could, or on hard days at uni he'd surprise me with flowers when I got home.

'I'd also like to thank my coach Shannon Mackie who has all the nutritional knowledge and created my training plans.'
