The general election will make way for a village play this week as the latest production from a drama group in North Creake begins a three-night run at the village hall that would usually act as the local polling station.

The play by Peter Tinniswood, titled The Village Fete, will have its first performance on Thursday, June 8, so voters will have to make their way to the Memorial Pavilion in South Creake to cast their vote.

The group apologised for the inconvenience and a spokesperson said: 'It was just too late to change the performance dates as tickets had been printed and already sold and publicity material circulated.'

Their popular January pantomime, Treasure Island, enabled them to donate £250 to Burnham Market primary school and Rudham Church of England Primary School.

Tickets are £10 and can be obtained by phoning 07818696660 or by email.
