The gas board has been called out to Middlewood in Kings Lynn after firefighters noticed the smell fumes in the area.
A fire service spokesman said crews had been posting safety leaflets through doors around 8.30pm when they noticed the smell of gas.
They called the gas board to investigate the issue and remained on scene as a precaution.
