Gaps filled in local bus services

STEVE DOWNES Norfolk County Council and local bus companies have moved to fill a host of gaps left when First Eastern Counties withdrew some services.The county has worked with firms to improve coverage on routes that it subsidises, including:Wymondham Flexibus 60 Bawburgh and Little Melton to Norwich - the Wymondham Flexibus will continue to provide fixed route school time journeys into Thickthorn park and ride for students, but later return journeys in the afternoon can be provided if pre-booked.

Norfolk County Council and local bus companies have moved to fill a host of gaps left when First Eastern Counties withdrew some services.

The county has worked with firms to improve coverage on routes that it subsidises, including:

Wymondham Flexibus 60 Bawburgh and Little Melton to Norwich - the Wymondham Flexibus will continue to provide fixed route school time journeys into Thickthorn park and ride for students, but later return journeys in the afternoon can be provided if pre-booked. Call Flexibus on 0845 600 2315.

provide fixed route peak hour journeys into Costessey park and ride to partially replace commercial First 56B. This service will provide a connection at Costessey to enable people to get to work and college in Norwich. Through tickets will be available.

Wayland Flexibus 63 Great Ellingham to Attleborough - will provide fixed route peak hour journeys into Attleborough from the Rocklands and the Ellinghams to partially replace commercial First X3. This service will provide a connection in Attleborough with new First service 13 to enable people to get to work and college in Norwich. Through tickets will be available.

Anglian 123 the Plumsteads to Norwich - the service is extended to serve the Plumsteads under contract to replace First 14, 14A and 15.

First 14, 14A, 14B, 15 Wymondham via Norwich to the Plumsteads - daytime commercial services from Wymondham will terminate at Norwich bus station instead of continuing to the Plumsteads, which are now served by an extension to Anglian Bus service 123. The evening and Sunday 14B journeys now terminate in Norwich bus station. There are no changes to evening and Sunday times.

Konect 3 Ashill, Watton, Hingham to Norwich - this part-funded service partially replaces the previous commercial First X3 service. Konect 3 operates hourly with extra buses at peak hours.

Norfolk Green X5 Sheringham, Cromer, Aylsham to Norwich - there are some time changes on Monday to Saturday evenings with extra journeys. There is no change to the Sunday timetable, but all journeys are renumbered 50 to mirror the First commercial daytime service, which also changes from this date.

Norfolk Green X6 Fakenham, Holt, Sheringham to Cromer - there are some minor time changes to this funded service.

Norfolk Green X8 King's Lynn to Fakenham - there are some minor time changes to this funded service.

Norfolk Green 10C Coltishall via Spixworth to Norwich - there are some time changes to this funded evening service.

Norfolk Green 28 Fakenham town service - this service is revised with new routes and times. Part of the service is provided by a new X29 service to Norwich offering improved links.

Norfolk Green 29 Fakenham to Wells - there are some minor time changes plus extra buses on Saturdays. There are improved links to Norwich on X29.

Norfolk Green X29 Fakenham via Foulsham to Norwich - this new funded service replaces the previous commercial First 56 service. X29 operates every two hours Monday to Saturday with improved shopping services. There is no change to the funded Sunday 29 service operated by Sanders Coaches.

Sanders 4, 44 Holt, Cromer,

Aylsham to Norwich - there are

some minor time changes to this

partly subsided service. These

changes offer an earlier arrival in Norwich in the morning and a last bus to Holt from Norwich at 1820 to partially replace commercial journeys withdrawn by First Eastern Counties. The main day timetable is not changed.

Simonds 10A South Lopham via East Harling to Norwich - this new Monday to Friday funded service replaces the previous commercial First service to a similar timetable. There is no change to the funded shopping on this route provided by Semmence.
