Jacqueline Holmes, from Shipmeadow, near Beccles, was among 50 craftspeople from the Embroiderers' Guild asked to contribute to a huge Game of Thrones embroidery commissioned by HBO, the makers of the fantasy drama.

The piece, a re-creation of one of its most famous scenes – the battle of Hardhome – depicts a giant White Walker, who stares menacingly at the viewer from the 18ft by 13ft artwork.

It enjoyed its debut at Central Saint Martins' the Crossing Gallery in London last March, but on Monday it will form an integral part of Makers Month at The Forum in Norwich, an event offering drop-in activities, workshops and exhibitions.

The wealth of expertise shown by the embroiderers such as beading, applique and quilting can be admired, as well as the roundel created by Mrs Holmes, inspired by the crest of House Lannister. The crests form the all-round 30cm border and portray each of the Games of Thrones families.

The Embroiderers' Guild was approached by HBO on recommendation following a piece they had completed on Magna Carta. The embroidery has been used to promote the programme's fifth season on DVD.

Mrs Holmes said: 'I was very excited, I knew nothing about he programme, so I did a lot of research.

'It's very difficult to estimate how many hours it took, but I completed it during the winter so I would get up early in the morning to get the light and I had about a month to do it.

'I went to London to see it when it was there and I will definitely be going to see it in Norwich. It's an absolutely stunning piece as a whole.'
