Work has been on hold since May after the company behind the new drive-through, off Jubilee Way, went into administration.

Work on the fast food restaurant, which was unanimously approved by Waveney District Council, started on the site of the historic biscuit factory at the end of 2016, however it ground to a halt after the franchise due to be managing the site went into administration.

Speaking this week, a Waveney District Council spokesman, said: 'Discussions are ongoing with franchisees interested in taking on the site and we are confident of a resolution in the near future.'

The restaurant was approved on the grounds it would kickstart the regeneration of an area which would bring customers and further businesses to the north end of town. However it caused concern for heritage campaigners, as the Coopers factory dated back to the 1800s and was where long-life sea biscuits were manufactured until the 1960s.
