Customers saddened by the death of a much-loved hairdresser at his salon have been invited to pay their final respects to him at his funeral.

Darren Wright's death at his Salonfx premises in Attleborough has shocked the community, with residents speaking of their devastation at the 'sad loss of a wonderful man'.

Mr Wright had been cutting hair in Attleborough for nearly 14 years when police were called to his salon in Edenside Drive, Attleborough at around 9pm on Tuesday, April 17.

Police confirmed a man was found dead at the scene but said there were no suspicious circumstances.

Mr Wright's family have now confirmed on the Salonfx website that his funeral will be held at Earlham Crematorium in Earlham Road, Norwich on Friday, May 11, at 1.15pm.

All are welcome to attend and give flowers. Donations can be made on the day of the service or sent to Mind, the family's chosen charity.

Flowers should arrive at East of England Co-op Funeral Services in Attleborough High Street by 11am on the day of the funeral.

Tributes have continued to flood in for Mr Wright, who spoke on his company's website about the pleasure his job gave him.

Catherine Johnson said: 'Darren was a true gentleman, warm and courteous.

'The empathy he showed to his clients was reflected in the way he treated their hair and he was able, with huge skill and intelligence, to ensure they would look their very best.

'Of the many and prestigious hairdressers I have had over the years, his cutting and colouring were unparalleled. He was an artist.

'His kind manner, sense of humour and informed conversation made him a joy to be around.

'I mourn him and shall miss him greatly.'

Margaret and Derek Askew said: 'Darren was, indeed, more than a hairdresser to those who came in contact with him.

'He took a genuine caring interest in his clientele and became a greatly valued friend.

'Darren will always be remembered with warmth and gratitude. His memory will not diminish and we are thankful to have been able to share in his life.'
