Fundraisers for the Paul Cole Cancer Fund have hit a third of a million pounds raised after they raised £3,000 through selling Easter eggs and chicks earlier this year.

The milestone was hit after almost 2,500 eggs were purchased through sponsorship or donations, before Zoiyar Cole and Janet Ellis sold the eggs and the woolen chicks at 28 shops and businesses in Lowestoft.

Eggs were donated by businesses such as Birdseye, who donated 300 eggs, Morrisons, who donated 200 eggs, and Bookers, who donated 100 eggs.

The £2,758.16 raised has been split equally between the Louise Hamilton Trust and the Sandra Chapman Ward at the James Paget University Hospital.

Money was also raised to purchase the eggs through sponsorship, raising more than £600 to buy eggs to be sold.

Zoiyar Cole said: “Special thanks to everyone who knitted chicks June Honeywood, Brenda Lincoln, Maureen Last, Myra Saunders, Mary Pickles, Rachael from Dixon’s newsagents, my daughter Angela and husband Michael Rowe for their help.”
