As a show of goodwill to businesses and customers affected by the roadworks in Oulton Broad, Waveney District Council has announced a period of free parking in the Boulevard car park.

A major scheme to replace ageing gas mains in Oulton Broad began on February 20 and the council is working closely with Oulton Broad Community Enterprise to help address the impact of the works – with parking at the Boulevard car park to be entirely free, all day, until March 31.

Although Waveney is not responsible for the works, it is determined to ensure that people still visit and shop in the area. Stephen Ardley, Waveney's cabinet member for operational partnerships, said: 'We know that businesses are very worried about the roadworks and that customer numbers are down. So we hope that a period of free parking will help. Oulton Broad is a great place to visit and to shop.'
