Former British Olympian Dame Mary Peters is heading to Norfolk to officially open a new retirement homes complex.

The national treasure is best known for winning a gold medal in the pentathlon at the Munich Olympics in 1972.

She went on to win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award.

She will be at the Louis Arthur Court retirement living development on New Road in North Walsham from 11am to 2pm on Wednesday, August 21, where she is due to give an insightful talk about her successful athletics career.

She said: "I'm very much looking forward to visiting Louis Arthur Court and to spending time with the people of North Walsham."

Retirement builder McCarthy and Stone named the development, which comprises 45 one and two-bedroom age-exclusive apartments, in honour of Prince Louis Arthur Charles of Cambridge, the third child of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
