A woman with roots in Caister and Filby is continuing her dream of studying in the USA, after she bagged a prestigious football scholarship two years ago.

Chelsie Hurren, 20, first jetted off to Colorado in 2014 to combine studying at Otero Junior College with playing for the Lady Rattlers soccer team.

Now the star will continue to Delta State University, in Cleveland, Mississippi to finish her bachelor's degree and play in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) league with the university's team.

Chelsie, a former East Norfolk Sixth Form College and Caister High School student, said: 'The past two years have been a life-changing experience in Colorado whilst studying and playing football. I'm very excited to be given this new opportunity to play at Delta State University for my remaining two years as a student athlete.

'I'm pursuing my bachelor's degree in health and physical education and will be aiming to teach PE in schools around the world. I'm very fortunate to have an amazing support, I'm very grateful for everyone that has made this dream of mine a reality.'

Chelsie went through the Norwich Centre of Excellence when she was 14, and played for Norwich city Ladies first team and her country.

She then went for trials with Pass 4 Soccer in London at the David Beckham Soccer Dome where the scouts travel from all over America talent spotting for players to represent their universities.

Chelsie added: 'I've visited as many as 16 states while travelling and playing football, including regions finals played in Florida in my first year.'
