It is arguably the world's best-known car manufacturer, which has designed some of the most iconic cars that have for decades transported people across the land.

And now a new event is being held in Norfolk to celebrate the contribution famous Ford cars have made to our lives.

From the historic Cortina and Sierra to the present day Focus and Mondeo, many of us have fond memories of cars with the famous blue emblem.

For lots of people their affordable prices made them an ideal first car, while the larger and more expensive models made them the ideal family hatchback or work commute for others.

But the manufacturer has also built cars to satisfy even the most ardent petrolheads, with models such as the Puma, Focus RS and Mondeo ST220 rivalling the top sportscar makers.

Snetterton race circuit said it had decided to stage the first Ford Power Live this year to coincide with a number of the blue oval marque's landmark anniversaries, including 20 years of the Puma and a quarter of a century of the Escort Cosworth.

But a spokesman for the venue said the Sunday, October 22 event would 'bring together the best the blue oval marque has to offer, from classics to brand new models, US legends to European icons'.

Motorists are also encouraged to drive their Fords to the event, with every car automatically entered into the event's 'Show and Shine' display and prizes for the best.

Owners of the most iconic vehicles can also enter the concours competition for cars with the most wow factor.

With the RS500 Sierra celebrating its 30th birthday, the RS1800 Fiesta being 25 and the MK1 Focus RS 15 years old, a Snetterton race circuit spokesman said: 'We're looking for the best examples of these iconic models to be displayed at Ford Power Live so get in touch if you own a car worth celebrating.'

Paul Heath, club administrator of the ST220 Enthusiasts - who are taking part in the event - said: 'We believe that events like Ford Power Live are a very important addition to the annual show calendar for owners, as this provides the opportunity for dedicated enthusiasts who have a passion for the various models and the Ford brand in general, to come together in a unique display for fellow enthusiasts to view, enjoy and discuss as a whole.'

The car displays and competitions will form part of a comprehensive off-track show at Ford Power Live, accompanied by live music, trade stands, an auto jumble, car sale, and much more.

The event will feature track demonstrations from favourite Fords, including Formula One cars and MASCARS – NASCAR's diminutive cousins.
