Police in King's Lynn are appealing for information following the theft of £15,000 worth of aluminium “dam boards” used for flood defences in the town.

The items were stolen, along with the Ifor Williams trailer which contained them, from the Environment Agency (EA) compound in Wisbech Road, South Lynn, at approximately 9.45pm yesterday .

While the EA has alternative flood defence barriers, these boards were due to be used during high tide this coming Tuesday in the Green Quay area of the town.

In all, 21 boards were stolen.

Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity or vehicles near the site or scrap metal merchant who have been offered these items for sale is asked to contact PC Dan Curtis at King's Lynn Police Station on 0845 456 4567.
