A north Suffolk teenager who collapsed and died suddenly after visiting the Royal Norfolk Show was the tragic victim of a sudden death syndrome, an inquest heard yesterday.

Aaron Sayer, 16, of Flixton, near Bungay, died at his home hours after attending the first day of the show at the Norfolk Showground with his family on June 29.

Yesterday an inquest into Aaron's death heard that after collapsing in the bedroom of his Abbey Road home his father Graham had tried in vain to resuscitate him.

Greater Suffolk coroner Dr Peter Dean, sitting at Lowestoft Magistrates' Court, said that after coming back from the show Aaron, who went to Bungay High School, went for a shower.

When he did not return his father went looking for his son, who is said to have loved the agricultural scene and wanted to study it at college.

Dr Dean said: 'He [Mr Sayer] found him unresponsive on his bedroom floor.'

Before paramedics arrived Mr Sayer tried to resuscitate his son.

Dr Dean said: 'All of these attempts of resuscitation were not successful.'

The time of Aaron's death was given as 8.34pm.

A post-mortem examination revealed that Aaron died from sudden arrhythmic death syndrome which causes a disturbance in the heart's rhythm.

Dr Dean said that Aaron's sudden death had been 'particularly tragic'.

He added: 'Our thoughts are very much with his family and all those very close to him.'

Aaron had worked with the Suffolk Wildlife Trust to help boost the numbers of tree sparrows in Flixton.

After his death Bungay High School held its prom in Aaron's honour and it also created a tribute garden where flowers, gifts and cards were placed and later presented to his grieving family
