• 'We have found the Raiders of the Lost Ark!' Workmen who came to fill in a pot hole got more than they bargained for when they uncovered a Second World War bomb shelter hidden under a Norwich primary school car park.

• Norwich City unveiled their latest signing of the January transfer window - Portuguese right-back Ivo Pinto. The 26-year-old posted an image from his @IvoPinto6 account with #IAmNorwich which soon proved popular. Canaries fans used the hashtag to have a bit of fun, with one image of fictional Norwich DJ Alan Partridge in place of Pinto in particular receiving plenty of retweets.

• December was the wettest month on record for the UK, provisional figures from the Met Office show. The last month of 2015 was not only the wettest December on record, but the wettest calendar month overall in the records dating back to 1910.

• Almost half a century since colour television was introduced to the UK, new figures revealed there are still more than 50 people in Norfolk with a black and white TV set. These include 30 people in the Norwich area, 12 in King's Lynn and 10 in Great Yarmouth.

• Finally, there was more misery for motorists in Norwich as it was announced that Rouen Road will be closed at its junction with Golden Ball Street/Cattle Market Street/Farmers Avenue for around 12 weeks
