A woman suffered a serious leg injury and four others were hurt after a two car crash in Letheringsett, near Holt.

The serious road traffic collision happened on the A148 at Letheringsett on Tuesday.

A red BMW and a grey Volvo were in a collision at around 5.40pm in Holt Road near to the junction with Riverside Road.

Two rapid response cars, three ambulances, a paramedic officer and the East Anglian Air Ambulance were dispatched to the scene.

The female drivers of both cars received serious injuries and were taken to hospital.

An ambulance spokesperson said: 'We worked closely with our emergency partners and the hospital to ensure that the casualties were assessed and treated has quickly as possible. All five casualties were conveyed to the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital - a female was airlifted after suffering a serious leg injury, another had a suspected fracture to their hand and three others suffered neck injuries.'

The road was blocked for almost six hours whilst emergency services dealt with the incident.
