There are five days left to nominate an ‘invaluable’ hero or heroine for Stars of Norfolk and Waveney Awards 2018.
The event is designed to recognise the often unappreciated heroes of Norfolk and Waveney’s communities, who are nominated by friends, colleagues, and family.
Claire Cullens, CEO of Norfolk Community Foundation said: “We are delighted to be involved in the 2018 Stars of Norfolk and Waveney Awards to help celebrate the huge number of committed and tireless volunteers dedicated to improving lives on their doorstep.
“Through our work, we recognise the invaluable contribution local individuals and voluntary groups make to life in Norfolk, particularly for those facing challenges. The Awards provide a great opportunity to honour the everyday heroes who all too often go unsung.”
Cllr Graham Plant, leader of Great Yarmouth Borough Council, said: “The council is committed to supporting the many special people who work to enhance their communities and neighbourhoods, helping to improve the environment and the lives and wellbeing of their friends and neighbours.
“These inspirational people and groups play a vital role in helping to foster stronger, better connected and more resilient communities, building great places where people know each other and are willing to support one another.
“These champions are often long-standing volunteers or dedicated employees who go above and beyond to serve others and their communities, but do not seek public praise or reward in return. We know there are many such ‘stars’ living across the borough and Norfolk.
“Sponsoring the Stars of Norfolk and Waveney Awards is a fantastic way to recognise their special efforts and achievements, and to thank them publicly, while boosting pride in communities.”
Cllr Shaun Vincent, leader Broadland District Council said: “All over Norfolk there are many young people who make a huge contribution to their communities and enhance the lives of others and we are proud to sponsor Young Person of the Year so these inspirational young people can get the recognition they richly deserve for their work or actions.”
This year’s awards will be held at The Halls on St Andrew’s St in Norwich on December 5.
The application deadline is October 30 and the judging process will take place throughout November.
